Served as a Member of the House of Representatives (MP) of the Republic of Somaliland for a period of sixteen (16) years (2005–2021). During this tenure, I held several key leadership positions, including Chairperson of the Committee on Natural Resources and Environment for eight (8) years and Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) for two (2) years. Furthermore, I chaired or participated as a member of special legislative committees tasked with the drafting and editorial revision of sixteen (16) statutory instruments. In my legislative role, I also contributed substantively to the deliberation and adoption of fifty-six (56) laws and parliamentary resolutions.

Held various leadership positions in the banking sector, including Branch Manager and Director. I served at the Commercial and Savings Bank of Somalia (1985–1990) and later at the Central Bank of Somaliland (1994–2002). These roles significantly enhanced my understanding of monetary systems, finance, commerce, and the dynamics of the business community.

Over the course of my career, I have delivered educational programs and professional trainings on business and banking laws, as well as principles of good governance, across a range of institutional settings and to diverse audiences.
